Hello, my name is José, but my friends call me Chepe. What I enjoy most about my work for mamacoffee is that through everything we do, I can contribute to the development of coffee culture in Nicaragua. I can help people who wouldn't have many opportunities and chances to make it in the world of specialty coffee on their own. Thanks to the collaboration with mamacoffee, I can help small coffee farmers find a sustainable and competitive path in their business.
What does mamacoffee mean to you?
For me, mamacoffee is a company with a huge dose of respect for coffee. It has noble goals and thus helps in the development of all its employees, collaborators, and even customers. It carries out all projects with maximum responsibility and an equal approach so that it leaves a significant mark in each country, not only in the field of coffee but also in the social sphere. Mamacoffee shows us all that the established paradigms around coffee do not necessarily have to be valid anymore. For example, in the economic area, the purchasing price is a big topic. Mamacoffee buys coffee at a fair price, which is higher than the surrounding market has set. Fair prices, however, motivate growers who can thus focus on developing their farms and improving their production.
What is your favorite coffee?
I belong to the team of filtered coffee. I must admit that I haven't had the opportunity to taste all the coffees from mamacoffee's selection yet. But I definitely like our coffee from Nicaragua the best. I especially enjoy coffee processed naturally, specifically from the Chavarría family.
